RACE 3: 20 May 2006, Nigelstone
Our usual brand of tight racing (at least after
the top three positions have been decided) was the norm today at Nigelstone; even with the track direction reversed (anti
-clockwise) for the first time, most of our stories stayed the same. Mike Smalley
took the win, with usual suspects Rene and Daniel close behind. Thomas, the loaner
car king, continued a pattern of being best of the rest with a solid fourth, followed by John Emmons, host Nigel, Jim Wolfe
(a foreshadowing of the second race) and Gary.

RACE 2: 18 March 2006
For our second race of the 1950's Le Mans class the benefits of thinking
through your weight placement and praticing on the tracks when they are available was made loud and clear. The two guys
who have put in the most time and effort in car setup AND driving practice beat the field by 9 laps. Micheal took 1st
by just 4/10ths of a lap ahead of Daniel in 2nd, taking the win in the last heat with a huge effort on the Yellow lane.
Nigel got his first 3rd in 2006 by staying 1.4 laps clear of Bill S in 4th, who had his best ever finish with the Scuderia
Smalley Mercedes 300SL.
Gary Woods leveraged his hosting advantage to a 5th place - his best result of 2006 - While
our host from the last race, Chris C, took 6th. Like several other racers (Thomas and Richard) John E overcame a bad
heat on Yellow to take 7th while Mike P drove consistently to take 8th only 4/10ths of a lap behind. Rounding out the
Top Ten were Thomas and Richard Z.
Stephen messed around and hopes he did not get in too many people's way!

RACE 1: 4 February 2006
The first
race of the Ninco 1949-62 Le Mans class was held at Michael Smalley's Carrera Riverside Raceway on 4 February. Not surprisingly
a whole new class led to.....wait for it.......the same 4 guys in the top 4 positions.....shocking I tell you, absolutely
shocking! Something to do with driving, practise, concentration and not talking while driving (thank you Mr. Samson
for encouraging me!)
Rene took
the win in the Ferrari 250 TR just 4/10ths of a lap ahead of Michael who proved that it is not the car, as he did it with
the 4 different loaner cars (Mercedes 300 SL Revell body on a Ninco Austin Healey chassis, Chevrolet Corvette, Porsche 356
coupe, AC Cobra). Dennis continued his return to form with 3rd with his Corvette ahead of Daniel in his 250TR.
Thereafter
followed Thomas, with Stan, Bill P, and John close together, and Bill S and Richard fighting it out for the last two
positions in the Top 10.
Seemingly
the longer wheelbase cars may be the better handling in this class: Ferrari 250 TR, Jaguar 120XK, Chevrolet Corvette and possibly
the Austin Healey.
