SCX 2WD Race 4, Mr Model Car

In a very exciting day Daniel took the honours just beating Michael S by the minimum 1/10th of a lap. Rene tried to take the fight to them but was just 2/10ths of a lap behind Michael at the end. Stephen (like Michael using an all new Porsche 911 - Stephen's a Fly 934 body on the SCX 911 chassis) came in 9/10ths behind Rene in 4th just beating the host Chris C by 2.10ths of a lap. A lap down in 6th was Nigel with a soimilar gap to Gary in 7th. Thomas took 8th ahead of Stan in 9th and Criag in 10th.

SCX 2WD Race 3 - Farrout Raceway 8 April 2006

Michael Smalley's red-hot driving form continued as he mastered his once recalcitrant Ford RS200 (on Ferrari F40 chassis) and left the field behind by a full lap and setting best laps for the day on every lane. Fighting it out for a very tight 2nd place (just 2/10ths of a lap between them) were Rene and Daniel with Rene taking 2nd and Daniel 3rd. Dennis took 4th in his first SCX 2WD drive of the year 2 laps down on 2nd. In 5th but a further 3 laps down Thomas improved his class ranking.

Just behind by 6/10ths and in his FIRST ever 6th place was Jim Wolfe, clearly benefitting from his most recent weekend spent hurling 1/24th cars around a track for a full day! He beat the host Stephen by 3/10ths of a lap and cleary Jim will be required to drink more beer in future! In 8th Alvin had a successful return beating Russell into 9th by only 2/10ths of a lap. Note both Alvin and Russel got a Top 5 of day on Red and Orange respectively. Nigel slipped a little in the class standings with a 10th, just ahead of the visiting Jim Hansen. Also note new racer to the club Bruce Talamon.

SCX 2WD Team Race #2: 18 Feb 2006

We had three firsts for our 2WD team race at the Farrout Raceway. We ran four 51 minute heats (50 minutes racing 1 minute compulsory pitstop per lane).

We had 5 people per team!
This was the first team race decided by less than a lap after 1285 laps and 200 minutes of racing!
We had live press coverage by MPH magazine!

Congratulations to Daniel's team (Daniel, Nigel, Gary, Stan, Craig) who beat Jim Wisemans's team (Jime Wiseman, Bob, Richard Z, Mike P and Craig - on two teams) by 1285.7 to 1285.3 laps. That is:

JUST 4/10ths of a lap
22 feet after 70,714 feet/13.4 miles or
the equivalent of 3.7 seconds or
just 0.03% more distance covered by the winning team.

The only way this can get closer is if we tape the cars together.

Daniel's team average lap time was 9.33 seconds versus Jim Wiseman's team lap average of 9.34 seconds. This as compared to best lap times across all 4 lanes in the 8.0 to 8.5 seconds per lap range underscoring once again how this racing is not abouit being fatatest every lap, it is about staying on at a steady pace.

In third place were Stephen's team (Stephen, Thomas, Jim Wolfe, Richard C and Bill Schniedewind ) doing average laps of 9.37 seconds to be 4.8 laps behind the leaders at the end, or a total of 0.4% behind the winners total.

Micheal's team (Michael S, Bill P, John E, Basem, Bill S - also on two teams) were fourth some 3.4% or 44 laps behind after averaging 9.66 seconds a lap for the 200 minutes.

Thanks to Bob, Stan, Jim Wolfe, John and Michael for helping setup and to Craig and Bill S for filling in to make even numbers on the teams.

SCX 2WD Race 1: 7 January 2006

Well it seems the addition of weight to other cars in the 2WD (F40) class has brought about a good change, at least from my point of view J I know, I know Rene won with an F40 but the 4 loaners he setup were all non-F40’s and all capable of running better than his F40 and my GTO was able to hang with them and his F40 (unfortunately my driving skills where not quite as capable J).

Rene took the win ahead of Daniel in 2^nd, ahead of Stephen in 3^rd by 3/10^ths of a lap. In 4^th was Bob Beck (for his highest sprint race finish in any class ever) just 1/10^th of a lap in front of Michael Smalley in 5^th. A lap behind was Bill P in 6^th with Russell in 7^th holding off Thomas by 1/10^th of a lap in 8^th. Nigel was 9^th a further 3/10^ths of a lap behind and newcomer Richard Costello (up from Mission Viejo) was 7/10^ths of a lap down in 10^th place. Note the Top 5 of day on Red lane by Richard C and on White lane by Mike Pawl.
