Ninco GT1 Le Mans
Series Race 6
2010 Race 47
Dec. 11, 2010
Circuit Villeneuve

As always Bruce's track produced close racing along with plenty of spills and thrills. Christophe DeLuy used a Slot.It Nissan body cobbled on to a Ninco McLaren F1 GTR chassis to earn a tie with me for second place. In the SCX F1 race he then went on to beat me to the third step on the podium by just 1 tenth. Terry De Los Santos handily won both races having seemingly no competition with Daniel and Michael not racing on the day. Eddie Shorer managed fourth with four top-fives in the Ninco GT1 race, but apparently ran into trouble and presumably a bunch of exposed, spinning tires in the F1 race, only mustering a tenth with just one top-five.

Tom Geise took a strong second place in the F1 race, and Bruce Talamon took his F1 Ferrari to 5th on the home track. Thomas used the loaner cars to good effect with a fifth and a sixth place to show for it. JR Ewing showed up and got right into the mix with two good finishes racing closely with Gary Woods, Tim Weston, Thomas, Eddie and Tom.

It was a beautiful day outside and somehow we all seemed to have some extra Christmas spirit, even with the 75 degrees and sunshine. The little red gift packages made us each think how great it would be if Santa's elves really did make Scalextrics. Thanks, Stephen and Bruce.

Tintops now took over, and there really wasn't much to talk about, other than, well, what else need be said; if this were air traffic control, there would be airplane corpses littered all over the field. Those who do well did so; those who don't didn't, usual suspects, etc.

Ninco GT1 Le Mans
Series Race 2
2010 Race 15
Apr. 17, 2010
Silverlake Speedway

Once again, 3-second laps were the norm on the Crazy 8, and the Nincos didn't disappoint; it was like running a scale version of Martinsville with a crossover. (NASCAR folks wouldn't recognize the cars, though.) In the warm-up, some of the loaners were unusually grippy, finding places to steer the cars out of the slot; a reassignment of cars ended this and provided a good overall sampling, though the red lane car dogged a bit near the end. Usual Suspect Mike Smalley survived the "Full Nelson" in heat 8 (flanked by the family of the same name), but couldn't handle the renaissance of the other Usual Suspect, Terry De Los Santos, who charged for the win in the final heat. Suspects-in-Training Eddie Shorer and Craig Williamson followed, closely pursued by yours truly, who got bit by the dog in the final heat to finish an unsatisfying fifth.

Ninco GT1 Le Mans
Series Race 1
2010 Race 5
Feb. 6, 2010
Woodside Raceway

This was just the course for these cars still sporting the NC-1 stock motor, as speed was not so important as control (thank you, Pirelli); those in the forties for lap count had it mastered. Michael Smalley resumed his usual throne, but this time some auslanders hauled the mail to reach the podium; suspect-in-training Eddie Shorer took second, while yours truly captured his first podium this year (hopefully of many). Tom Giese, the other member of the "Tom-Tom" club, took a well-earned fourth, with usual suspect Terry De Los Santos a comfortable fifth. New club member Harold Slagg gave a good account of himself with a thirteenth place run.
