10/17/2009
The 2009 1964-74 Le Mans Championship is final. Michael Smalley is your winner with three race wins. Terry De Los Santos finishes second, also with three race wins. Craig Williamson and Daniel Snipes tie for third place. This is likely to be my highest placing of the season and I'm proud and humbled to tie for third with a great driver like Daniel. Thomas Lauffenberger grabs fifth. JR Ewing and Eddie Shorer tie for sixth. Both of them have risen up quickly in a tough crowd; look for them to do even more next year. Chris Chan, Christophe Deluy and Gary Woods make up the top ten. Twelfth to sixth were separated by just 1.2 points.

With just one race left to run in the 2009 OTHG Fly Le Mans Championship, Michael Smalley continues to lead despite a fourth place finish in the recent team race. Terry De Los Santos uses a second in the team race to solidify his position of second in the championship. Daniel Snipes remains third, but sees the gap to fourth shrink. Winning teammates Thomas Lauffenberger, JR Ewing and your author, Craig Williamson, each benefit, with Craig and Thomas both seeing large point gains in fourth and fifth respectively, and JR jumping from ninth to sixth. Bob Beck's no-show for the team race drops him from fifth to tenth, while Eddie Shorer remains seventh. Newcomer Christophe Deluy is now eighth after completing his three race minimum.

The final race in this championship will be contested on Oct. 18 at Gary's Woodside Raceway.
