FarrOut Slot Racing Club
2008 FarrOut Overall Championship

12/13/2008
After 42 races the 2008 OTHG Overall Championship has been decided, and for the third year running Michael Smalley is your champion. With a perfect 400 points in his best-of-20, Michael made it very tough for the rest of us. Daniel Snipes finishes second with a valiant effort to give Michael some steady competition. Third is sophmore competitor Terry De Los Santos. Your webmaster, Craig Williamson, finishes fourth for the second year in a row. Fifth is taken by club founder Stephen Farr-Jones, and Bob Beck makes the best of his late season charge to place sixth. A whole slew of fine drivers finished behind these six, and everyone who raced with the club in 2008 should be proud of showing up and abusing a controller.

12/6/2008
Just one race meeting remains in the 2008 OTHG Championship, and last weekend's team race was unable to produce any changes for the top six positions. The teams appear to have been properly seeded with each team finishing in the ranking order of their team leader. Michael Smalley remains your overall leader with Daniel Snipes holding second. The possibility remains for changes in the four remaining top six spots with Terry De Los Santos and Craig Williamson vying for third overall, and fifth place up for grabs between Stephen Farr-Jones in fifth, Bob Beck sixth, Thomas Lauffenberger seventh and Gary Woods lurking in eighth. Good luck to all.

Show Scores
11/15/2008
Two more races are in the books and there is only one change to the top six in the OTHG Overall Championship; Bob Beck moves form seventh to sixth. Your leader remains Michael Smalley followed by Daniel Snipes and Terry De Los Santos. Craig Williamson remains clear of Stephen Farr-Jones in fifth. Gary Woods, who is now tied with Thomas Lauffenberger for seventh, has a strong best-of-ten score and may still be a threat to unseat Craig or Stephen.

11/1/2008
It's down to the wire with just five races to run in the 2008 OTHG Championship. Michael Smalley is your leader with a perfect 400 in his best of 20 races. Daniel Snipes is untouchable in second. Craig Williamson, in fourth, closes the gap to Terry De Los Santos in third as both improve their averages. Stephen Farr-Jones remains fifth. Gary Woods, Bob Beck and Thomas Lauffenberger, in sixth, seventh and eight respectively, are separated by just 0.11 points. Pick your favorite and start cheering.

10/18/2008
In the 2008 OTHG Overall Championship, Michael Smalley strengthens his lead over second placed Daniel Snipes. Terry De Los Santos remains firmly in third. Craig Williamson overtakes Stephen Farr-Jones for fourth, but it's far from done. Gary Woods still edges Thomas Laufffenberger for sixth. Just seven races remain.

10/4/2008
The top three remain unchanged in the OTHG Overall Championship with Michael Smalley leading over Daniel Snipes, followed by Terry De Los Santos. Stephen Farr-Jones continues his late season roll and moves into fourth, 4/100ths of a point over Craig Williamson in fifth. Gary Woods is in sixth, but is just 4/100ths above Thomas Lauffenberger in seventh. Nine races now remain in this year's championship.

9/20/2008
After the Sept. 20th team race you have to look all the way to 16th place to find a change in the OTHG Overall standings. Michael Smalley remains your leader, followed by Daniel Snipes, Terry De Los Santos, Craig Williamson, Stephen Farr-Jones and Gary Woods.

9/6/2008
The top three positions in the OTHG Overall Championship are unchanged with Michael Smalley leading over Daniel Snipes and Terry De Los Santos. Craig Williamson moves to fourth, inching ahead of Stephen Farr-Jones, now in fifth. Gary Woods still holds sixth, but Thomas Lauffenberger has closed the gap.

8/16/2008
Daniel Snipes continues to inch closer to leader Michael Smalley in the OTHG Overall Championship. Stephen Farr-Jones and Craig Williamson are also able to close the gap on Terry de los Santos in third, while pulling further away from Gary Woods in sixth. With fourteen races still remaining in the season the top spots are far from settled.

8/2/2008
Stephen Farr-Jones continues his rise in the OTHG Overall Championship, replacing Craig Williamson in fourth place. Michael Smalley, Daniel Snipes and Terry de los Santos remain the top three. Gary Woods, like Craig, is also moved down one spot and now sits in sixth. Craig and Stephen are currently separated by just one tenth of a point.

7/19/2008
Michael Smalley is unable to stretch his lead over Daniel Snipes in the OTHG Overall Championship. Terry de los Santos, Craig Williamson and Gary Woods hold firm in 3rd, 4th and 5th, respectively. The legend, Chris Chan, falls from 6th to 10th, replaced by crazed slot car collector, and our inspirational leader, Stephen Farr-Jones.

7/5/2008
At this juncture Michael Smalley leads six of the eight OTHG championships and the Overall Championship. Daniel Snipes remains solidly in second. Behind Daniel, the positions are largely unchanged with Terry de los Santos in third, this author, Craig Williamson, in fourth, Gary Woods holding fifth while closing the gap and Chris Chan now sits in sixth, removing Thomas Lauffenberger from the top six.

6/21/2008
With neither Daniel Snipes or Michael Smalley attending the most recent race meeting, Terry de los Santos and the author, Craig Williamson, were able to solidifiy their positions in third and fourth in the championship respectively. Michael Smalley and Daniel Snipes continue to lead the OTHG Overall Championship and their impressive totals will make them difficult to assail for any other driver. Gary Woods and Thomas Lauffenberger continue to hold the fifth and sixth spots.

6/7/2008
There were no changes to the top four positions in the OTHG Overall Championship after the recent F1 team race, but Daniel Snipes was able to close the gap on leader Michael Smalley, who did not race in the event. Terry De Los Santos remains comfortably in third. Gary Woods overtakes Thomas Lauffenberger for fifth place, and moves within one point of the author, Craig Williamson, in fourth.

5/17/2008
The 2008 OTHG Overall Championship results, as they now stand, are a fine example of the questions the top six drivers raise for the season. Can Daniel catch Michael, or is this Michael's year for total domination? Will Terry be able to catch the top two? Will Thomas, Gary or Craig be able to challenge Terry, or will they just continue beating on each other? Who will be the next driver to complete their minimum and enter the lead group? Stay tuned to find out.

5/3/2008
The reckoning day has come for those drivers camping in high spots without points cover. With 16 races complete, adjusted scoring has kicked in. Drivers with less than 14 races are now scored at a disadvantage, compared to those with the minimum race count. The scoring system is explained here: 2008 Race Structure. For now, all racers with 14 or less races, are scored against 14 races, so if you are one race short of the 15 minimum you will rank with the drivers who have completed their minimum, but at the end of the year you will need at least 15 races to rank without handicap. A maximum of 27 races can be counted towards the championship.

Michael Smalley is your current 2008 OTHG Overall Championship leader. Daniel Snipes is in second and with one more race can close the points gap by meeting his minimum race goal. Terry De Los Santos sits in a highly respectable third, followed by Craig Williamson in fourth, with Thomas Lauffenberger fifth and Gary Woods sixth. Thomas and Gary have nearly identical points totals.

4/26/2008
Even while not racing this past weekend, Daniel Snipes amd Michael Smallley maintain their grip on the 2008 OTHG Overall Championship. Dennis Samson is now tied with Bill Polokow in third as one of several drivers benefiting from just a few race starts with high finishes. This includes the three drivers tied for 5th place; Bob Beck, Chris Radisich and Tim Neja. With seven drivers occupying the top five spots, push will come to shove. Ten drivers have completed more than ten races with fourteen races now complete.

4/5/2008
Daniel Snipes maintains his lead in the OTHG Overall Championship over Michael Smalley in second. Bill Polakow assumes third. Bob Beck now stands in fourth, tied with Chris Radisich. Moving down to sixth is Tim Neja. Racers accumulating strong point totals for the season include Terry De Los Santos, Craig Williamson, Mike Pawl, JR Ewing, Gary Woods and Thomas Lauffenberger.

3/16/2008
Daniel Snipes and Michael Smalley have taken a strong lead over the rest of the field, and stand more than 30 points ahead of the next highest points accumulator, Terry De Los Santos, who has 24 points more than Craig Williamson and 66 points more than Thomas Lauffenberger.

3/1/2008
With nine races completed, Daniel Snipes firms his lead over Michael Smalley in the OTHG Overall Championship.

2/17/2008
Seven races in, the charts are not so clear to read, with team race winners and stop-in hot-shoes benefiting from the scoring system, but at race ten we'll shake that out. Currently we can read between the lines to see Daniel Snipes with a clear lead over Michael Smalley.

Next, Chris Radisich, Tim Neja, Terry De Los Santos and Bob Scott are in a tight battle for third; a race Tim, Bob and Chris may not be available to defend, as Terry's clean driving style still seems set to improve further.

CW, SFJ and TL (that saved a few hundred characters, TDLS) fit into a points trough of uncertain safety just above Nigel, Gary, Legendary CC and Jimmy Wolfe, with Bob Beck likely to dive in.

Apparently just to prove the club's worth, and depth, below that we still find the excellent driving skills of Stan Smith, Bill S, JR, Russell, Tim Weston and an ever budding Ed Beer. Cheers to all for kicking off 2008 with all 12 volts.
