RACE 5
Sept 22, 2007
Bruce's Circuit Villeneuve

One thing that the new circuit shares with the old – scoring controversy. Enough de-slots occurred to cause lane riding through the lap counter, providing more questions than answers. Perhaps instant replay could solve some of these (a new project for Gary and me). The track extension was excellent, though, as now the lap times were almost double what they used to be, with the action just as good as before. The usual suspects took top honors, in the usual order. Third place was an adventure; Bob Scott and Craig Williamson tied for the bronze, both of them shutting me out (though I'll take the respectable 5th.) Chris Chan, John Emmons, Gary Woods, Terry DLS and Jim Wiseman/Bruce Talamon rounded out the top ten.

RACE 4
TEAM RACE 3
June 16, 2007
Nigel's Nigelstone

In Saturday's team race at Nigel's excellent track, Nigelstone, Daniel's team took first place with the highest lap totals for each lane except Green. With five consistently top performing drivers this was a strong team and they proved it on the track. Stephen Farr-Jones' team was second just under 12 laps back, and had the highest lap total on Green. Michael Smalley's team finished less than four laps ahead of Rene's team, which suffered a wheel coming off during Rene's stint on Yellow. Another car was substituted during the run, but several laps were already lost. The breakdown was probably the difference between third and fourth for their team.

Congratulations to all who raced. There were some very close battles in all heats, and the number of deslots was very low, even on Nigel's difficult track. The quality of driving across the club is really improving, and some fairly new drivers are hounding others with many years of experience. The experienced drivers should be thanked for showing us novices around. Nigel also deserves special kudos for flying the racing flags out in front of his house whenever we meet there. It really does set the stage for the day's races from the moment you arrive.

Jan 13, 2007
Farrout Raceway

With a large, friendly turnout of seasoned and novice racers, the first race of 2007 suggests that the FarrOut Racing Club is a small success. Twenty-three drivers tossed five in the kitty for the chance at a win and the sure bet of a cold one. And not just the beer was cold. Someone said it was so cold in Stephen's garage that the track had shrunk an inch or more. Some had other excuses. In the end it was Daniel Snipes who led the way with his silky smooth driving to a 1.5 lap lead. Chris Radisich and Michael Smalley fought and tied for 2nd. Host Stephen Farr-Jones was glad to MC for 4th place. Jimmy Wolfe rounded out the top five with another great drive in member-prepared loaner cars. The battle has just begun. Prepare yourselves.
