2005 Race Structure


We will have 24 meets in 2005 spread over 6 classes for a total of 43 races.

5 meets will be 3hr long distance team races, the other 19 will cover two classes in shorter 3 minute heats for a total of 43 races (counting as 48 as the long distance races count double points).   Basically you need roughly to be in 1/3rd of races to rank and more than 2/3rds to be able to drop poor races. 

5 of the 6 classes are specific cars from specific manufacturers.  The 6th class (Modern Magnet) is designed to allow us to run 4 different modern magnet classes twice each.

2005 RANKING AND POINTS STRUCTURE 

The Points system will continue to be 20, 18, 16, 15, 14, 13, 12, 11, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 for positions 1 through 18 per round for each race run, with 3hr races counting double points . 

We will continue to have minimum races to qualify for a ranking (3 per class and 18 for the overall championship) as well as allowing people to drop their worst performances above 5 races per class and 30 in the Overall Championship. 

To help make it easier to see where people really stand relative to each other the rankings will be presented as an average of 3 races or, once you have done more than 3 races, the average of the races you have actually run.  We are hoping that this way we can all see where we stand from day one without the need to wait until late in the season to know what the impact of dropped races are.
